Conceal Dental Imperfections
with Porcelain Veneers

Normal wear and tear can leave teeth stained or chipped. Unfortunately, these common flaws may cause patients to hide their smile from friends, family, or coworkers. If you want to improve your smile, porcelain veneers are a simple and effective cosmetic dentistry treatment. Porcelain veneers are adhered to the front of teeth to conceal imperfections. Patients in Albuquerque, NM, can receive custom porcelain veneers at New Mexico Smile Center. Our veneers are crafted from the finest materials and applied with detailed precision by Dr. Steve Ollason to provide the most natural-looking results.

What Are Porcelain Veneers?

Veneers are thin porcelain shells that are attached to the front of teeth to cover imperfections such as:

  • Chips
  • Cracks
  • Stains
  • Gaps
  • Asymmetry
  • Minor misalignment

However, it is important to note that patients with significant malocclusion will typically be recommended for formal orthodontic treatment such as Invisalign®

Minimal-prep Veneers

We also offer minimal-prep veneers at New Mexico Smile Center. These veneers require minimal alteration to the tooth's surface before placement. Since they require little to no reduction, this may negate the use of local anesthetic and make your veneers appointment faster and easier.

Are You a Candidate for Porcelain Veneers?

If you are dissatisfied with the appearance of your smile you may be a potential candidate for porcelain veneers. However, this treatment is not typically recommended for patients who have:

  • Untreated gum disease
  • Bruxism
  • Preexisting oral health issues

Fortunately, we offer a broad spectrum of procedures to address these concerns. Once completed, most patients will be able to then undergo cosmetic treatment. During your consultation, Dr. Ollason will evaluate your bite and discuss your goals to help you select the best treatment for your needs.

The Treatment Process

The veneers treatment process typically entails several steps:

Preparation

First, the teeth receiving veneers must be prepped. During this portion of the process, the doctor will remove a small amount of enamel by etching the surface of the affected tooth. This provides the best surface to securely attach the veneer. This technique also prevents the veneer from protruding unnaturally.

Customization

We will then take digital impressions which will be used to create your custom veneers. In some cases, the lab technician will meet with you in our office to take pictures and perform custom shading. We can also provide a wax-up of your veneers to allow you to preview your potential results.

Our veneers are crafted from the finest materials and applied with detailed precision by Dr. Ollason to provide the most natural-looking results.

At this time we can make small changes to ensure that you are satisfied with the size, shape, and fit of your veneers. Your veneers will be hand-crafted in a local lab by experienced technicians with an eye for detail. Typically, fabrication takes about two to three weeks during which you will be provided with temporary veneers.

Placement

Once your veneers have been fabricated, you will return for placement. Your veneers will be bonded to each affected tooth using a dental cement. Dr. Ollason exerts the utmost caution when setting your veneers for optimal aesthetics.

Financing Your Treatment

While cosmetic treatments are generally not covered by insurance, you may be able to take advantage of our Dental Benefits Program or financing through CareCredit®.
