Full-Arch Restoration with Fewer Implants

The Power of All-on-4

If you are missing most or all of your teeth, an implant-supported denture offers an unrivaled level of stability and strength. However, some patients do not have enough tissue in their jaw to support traditional implants or cannot afford the cost of six or eight implant posts. All-on-4® dental implants can restore an entire arch of missing teeth on only four precisely placed dental implants. Dr. Steve Ollason offers this advanced treatment concept at our Albuquerque, NM, dental practice. New Mexico Smile Center accepts most dental insurance plans and we can file insurance claims on patients’ behalf.

What Is All-on-4?

All-on-4 is a unique method of implant placement which uses two vertical and two tilted implants to support a full upper or lower denture. With conventional placement methods, a denture needs six or eight implants. By placing posts at an angle, All-on-4 utilizes the densest bone in the jaw to improve the stability of the denture without using additional implants. This minimally invasive treatment method has a 10-year success rate of 94.8 percent.

Benefits of All-on-4 Dental Implants

The All-on-4 method offers unique advantages compared to other treatment methods. All-on-4 implants are:

  • Cost-Efficient: Using fewer implants can save you money.
  • Graftless: The angled placement of back implants uses available bone, often eliminating the need for a dental bone graft.
  • Less Invasive: Placing six or eight implants requires more incisions and a longer procedure. All-on-4 is less invasive than conventional implant placement.
  • Fast-Acting: Patients who qualify for immediate loading can receive a temporary bridge the same day as implant placement, allowing them to experience full function more quickly.

Candidates for the All-on-4 treatment method often experience shorter treatment times, lower costs, and a rapid improvement in their quality of life.

Who Is a Candidate?

All-on-4 dental implants are an excellent option for those who lack sufficient bone density for traditional placement techniques. Typically, Dr. Ollason recommends All-on-4 for patients who have extensive or complete tooth loss and oral health conditions which require their remaining teeth to be extracted.

All-on-4 dental implants are an excellent option for those who lack sufficient bone density for traditional placement techniques.

In general, candidates should be in good overall health and should have no medical conditions that could make oral surgery a risk. Before recommending All-on-4, we will conduct a full oral health examination to ensure your gums and any remaining teeth are healthy. We do not typically recommend dental implants for patients who smoke, as tobacco use can increase your chances of implant failure.

Cost Factors

In general, treatment with the All-on-4 method is more affordable than conventional implant placement. With fewer implants and less need for bone grafting, this treatment is a cost-efficient solution for patients who require full-arch replacement.

There are several factors that can affect the final cost of All-on-4 treatment. Some of these include:

  • Preparatory procedures: Some patients may need to have teeth extracted before undergoing dental implant surgery. This can add to the total cost of treatment.
  • Materials used: Your final restoration can be crafted from a wide range of materials, including zirconia or acrylic. The cost of these materials will be reflected in your treatment fees.
  • X-rays and scans: 3-D cone bean scans are necessary to evaluate candidacy and plan treatment.
  • Sedation: The type of sedation chosen can affect the total treatment cost.

We firmly believe that cost should never prevent individuals from receiving the treatment they deserve. That is why New Mexico Smile Center accepts CareCredit® and Capital One Healthcare Financing to help our patients cover out-of-pocket expenses.
